A Green Oasis in the City

Fifty Fenchurch Street combines heritage, ecology, and civic amenity to create a distinctive public realm in the heart of the City of London. The project is delivered for AXA IM and YardNine, and will become the new home of The Clothworkers’ Company, with Eric Parry Architects designing the ‘Fifty Fenchurch’ tower.

The Fen Garden

At street level, the Fen Garden draws inspiration from the lost Langbourne River and historic marshlands, restoring nature to this dense urban context. Meandering water features, reed beds, and diverse planting create a layered, sensory landscape, while the Medieval Church Tower of All Hallows Staining remains a historic centrepiece nestled within lush greenery.

Elevated Gardens & Terraces

DSDHA’s design extends throughout the building, encompassing all terraces, balconies, and a publicly accessible tenth-floor internal grotto. These elevated gardens provide moments of retreat, panoramic views, and flexible spaces for social and communal use, connecting the tower to its surroundings through greenery.

A Living, Layered Landscape

By combining biodiversity, ecological planting, and carefully considered spatial organisation, the project creates a cohesive, resilient, and lasting green environment. The Fen Garden and terraces offer a new model of how nature and heritage can coexist within the City of London’s public realm.
